Canadian Education System
Undergraduate Degrees: The normal undergraduate degree is, generally four years. A combined degree will involve different subjects, which will not necessarily have equal weighting. A joint Honours degree will have two subject areas with equal weighting. Some universities offer courses with Internship, which are made up of a combination of three years of study and one year spent in industry. In most of the cases students are being paid for their work during this year.
Postgraduate Degrees: The Masters degree is usually 2 years in duration. Taught masters' courses allow graduates to specialize in their subject - by way of lectures, seminars and tutorials- followed by a period of research. Doctoral Degrees take 4 to 7 years and students are expected to carry out original research and produce a thesis.
